SHERMAN — A Denton County black Muslim man is suing his former employer, alleging racial discrimination, religious discrimination and wrongful termination.
Khaled Fekih-Romdhane filed a lawsuit Sept. 14 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Acacia Research Group LLC, alleging violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
According to the complaint, Fekih-Romdhane was subjected to extreme hostility and discrimination, and was terminated April 8, because of his race, color, religion and national origin.
The plaintiff alleges Acacia Research Group executives undermined his authority, including his duties to supervise his staff, opposed his promotion and terminated him under the guise of a layoff.
Fekih-Romdhane seeks trial by jury, an order prohibiting the defendant from engaging in unlawful discrimination, compensatory damages, reinstatement with back pay, court costs and any additional relief the court deems proper. He is represented by attorneys Matthew R. Scott and Javier Perez of Scott Perez LLP in Dallas.
