Big Sandy resident accuses Robroy Industries-Texas LLC of age discrimination

MARSHALL — A material handler is suing Robroy Industries-Texas LLC, a former employer, citing alleged depravation of rights.

Jerry Harris filed a complaint on Sept. 13, in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Robroy Industries-Texas LLC alleging that the former employer violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was terminated on Jan. 26, 2016, causing him to suffer actual damages for lost wages and benefits, emotional pain and suffering, inconvenience, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life. The plaintiff holds Robroy Industries-Texas LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated his employment because of his age and replaced him with a younger employee.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment be entered against defendant for damages suffered by plaintiff, liquidated damages, attorney's fees and costs and disbursements incurred for this action and such other and further relief. He is represented by William S. Hommel, Jr. of Hommel Law Firm in Tyler.
