The plaintiff Bartonfalls asserts ownership of United States Patent Number 7,917,922 B2, entitled “Video Input Switching and Signal Processing Apparatus.”
Recent court documents claim that the ‘922 patent was infringed upon.
“The ‘922 patent is directed to a novel method for integrating into a single system a plurality of television (“TV”) signal sources (e.g. standard broadcast-frequency, cable, direct- broadcast satellite), wherein the system includes different tuners which may include a descrambler; additional inputs for other uses; outputs for both baseband audio and video; and a system controller for inputting control signals from a standard infrared-type hand-held remote-controller to select and switch between both channels and input signal types,” they say.
Originally issued to inventors Barry H. Schwab and John G. Posa in March 2011, the ‘922 patent came under the plaintiff’s control last June.
Bartonfalls seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
It is represented by attorney Jean-Marc Zimmerman of the law firm Zimmerman & Paray LLP in Westfield, N.J.

The plaintiff EPT is based in Plano.
It has pursued legal action in response to what it claims was infringement of U.S. Patent No. 8,145,533.
Entitled “Builders On-Line Assistant,” recent court papers say, the subject patent was issued on Mar. 27, 2012.
“The claims of the ‘533 patent are directed to, for example, an ‘apparatus for servicing a customer of a building contractor through a third-party website provider,’” they state.
EPT seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
