Former Turtle & Hughes employee alleges she was terminated for reporting harassment

Wrongful term 13

HOUSTON – A Houston woman alleges she was terminated from her position as a human resources representative for reporting sexual harassment and racial discrimination.

Tiffany K. Riley filed a complaint on Sept. 27 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Turtle & Hughes Inc. & Neil Feldman alleging that they violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff, who is African-American, alleges that on Sept. 15, 2014, she was terminated from her employment with the defendants for complaining and filing a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The plaintiff holds Turtle & Hughes Inc. & Feldman responsible because the defendants allegedly subjected her to discrimination and retaliation for complaining about sexual and racial harassment, prevented her from obtaining Family Medical Leave Act benefits, and replaced her with a Caucasian woman.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for the sum of $300,000 in compensatory damages, loss of wages and medical expenses, attorneys’ fees and costs and such other and further relief as deemed just. She is represented by Anita J. Barksdale of Law Office of Anita Barksdale PLLC in Houston.
