Patient blames Kelsey-Seybold for injuries

Law money 12

HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing Houston medical care providers, alleging their gross negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Thomas A. Wichman filed a lawsuit Oct. 14 in Harris County District Court against Kelsey-Seybold Medical Group PLLC doing business as Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and Dr. Ned Snyder III, alleging Snyder failed to apply reasonable care and diligence in the application of his knowledge and skills.

According to the complaint, on May 4, Wichman was diagnosed with acute abdominal peritonitis due to a 5-6 cm perforation to the lateral right wall of his rectum at the pelvic brim, resulting from the colonoscopy previously performed by Snyder at the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.

Due to the degree of contamination, the suit says, surgeons were forced to perform open surgery. The lawsuit states Wichman suffered pain, emotional distress, mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff alleges Snyder failed to safely and properly perform a colonoscopy, failed to preserve the integrity of the plaintiff's rectal wall and failed to recognize the plaintiff's injury.

Wichman seeks, trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief to which he is justly entitled. He is represented by attorney Ernesto D. Sigmon of Sigmon Law PLLC in Houston.
