HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a Houston business, alleging violation of workers compensation acts in failing to pay overtime.

Molly Lander filed a lawsuit Oct. 20 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against The Realty Investment Club of Houston and Summer Nolan, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, between Jan. 4 and Sept. 26, Lander typically worked 50-55 hours per week as an executive coordinator for the defendants without receiving overtime pay at one and one-half times her regular hourly rate for each hour worked more than 40 per week.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to pay the overtime premium as required by the FLSA, changed some of her time entries and required her to perform tasks off the clock.

Lander seeks trial by jury, judgment for all unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and expenses and all other relief the court deems equitable. She is represented by attorneys Thomas H. Padgett, Jr. of Ross Law Group in Bellaire, and by Charles B. Scalise and Daniel B. Ross of Ross Law Group in Austin.
