Mississippi motorists blame transport company for crash

Car accident 21

BEAUMONT — Two Mississippi motorists are suing an Arkansas transportation company, alleging its negligence led to a crash that caused injuries.

Ira Norris and Jason Philips filed a lawsuit Nov. 1 in Jefferson County District Court against P.A.M. Transport Inc. of Springdale, Arkansas, alleging the defendant failed to conduct proper employment and background check on its drivers.

According to the complaint, on June 24, Norris and Philips were traveling through Jefferson County when they were struck by the defendant's vehicle by a driver who fled the scene after the accident. The suit says Norris suffered physical injuries and Philips suffered property damage to his vehicle.

The plaintiffs allege P.A.M. Transport's driver failed to safely operate the vehicle, failed to control the vehicle, failed to maintain proper lookout and fled the scene on Interstate Highway 10.

Norris and Philips seek trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other relief that is just and proper. They are represented by attorneys M. Paul Skrabanek and Michael Pierce of Pierce Skrabanek Bruera PLLC in Houston.
