BEAUMONT – A man alleges he was diagnosed with cancer because of exposure to a certain chemical in a product.

Bernard Mott Jr. and wife Kay Boyd Mott filed a complaint on Dec. 7 in the Jefferson County District Court against CRC Industries Inc., et al. alleging strict products liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, the Bernard Mott Jr. alleges that he suffered serious physical injuries including being diagnosed with kidney cancer because of his exposure to trichloroethylene in the defendants' products. The plaintiffs hold CRC Industries Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn Bernard Mott Jr. regarding the potential harmful effects of being exposed to purportedly carcinogenic components.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seeks damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Darren L. Brown of Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont.
