HOUSTON — A black Brazos County man is suing his former employer, alleging age and racial discrimination.

Kenneth B. Jones filed a lawsuit Nov. 21 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Arbin Instruments Inc. alleging violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, during Jones' tenure with Arbin, where among more than 50 employees he was the only African-American, he was subjected to workplace discrimination and treated unequally due to his race/ethnicity/color. The suit says Jones, 60,  was denied opportunities for promotions.

The plaintiff alleges Arbin Instruments subjected him to adverse employment actions and constructive termination.

Jones seeks trial by jury, judgment in an amount within the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus interest, costs of court and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys Derrick Reed and Ghazal A. Vahora of Smith Reed & Armstrong PLLC in Pearland.
