HOUSTON — A Sugarland woman is suing a local nursing home facility, alleging violation of workers compensation acts in not paying proper overtime.

Cassandre Riley filed a lawsuit Nov. 22 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Apollo Healthcare at Sugarland LP, alleging violation of the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, starting in March Riley routinely worked in excess of 40 hours per week as a staffing coordinator without being compensated at rates of one and one half times her regular rate of pay as required by FLSA.

The plaintiff alleges Apollo Healthcare at Sugarland reclassified her to exempt status to reduce labor costs and avoid paying Riley overtime wages.

Riley seeks trial by jury, unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, costs of suit and attorney fees, plus all other proper relief. She is represented by attorney Josh Sanford of Sanford Law Firm PLLC in Little Rock, Arkansas.
