HOUSTON — A Texas woman is suing Chanel, alleging age discrimination and wrongful termination.
Vonnie Wenck filed a lawsuit Nov. 23 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Chanel Inc. alleging violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, on Feb. 28, 2014, Wenck was terminated from her employment as a sales associated due to her age of 59. As a result, the suit says, Wenck, who had worked for Chanel since 2007, suffered damages for lost wages and benefits and loss of employment opportunities.
The plaintiff alleges Chanel willfully engaged in age discrimination practices and unlawfully terminated her and replaced her with a younger individual for a much lower salary.
Wenck seeks trial by jury, back pay, reinstatement, or front pay, attorney fees and court costs, liquidated damages and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Adam Q. Voyles of Lubel Voyles LLP in Houston, by A.L. Dent III of Law Office of A.L. Dent III in Katy and by Alan N. Magenheim of Magenheim & Associates in Houston.
