HOUSTON — A South Carolina security systems provider is suing a former service technician, alleging misappropriation of trade secrets.

Electric Guard Dog LLC of Columbia, South Carolina, filed a lawsuit Dec. 2 in Harris County District Court against Paul Rodriguez of Harris County, alleging the defendant willfully interfered with the plaintiff's existing and prospective customers.

According to the complaint, as a result of Rodriguez's unlawful conduct, Electric Guard Dog continues to suffer irreparable monetary injury to its business and good will unless the defendant, who was fired by EGD in January 2013, is restrained by the court.

The plaintiff alleges Rodriguez kept and used Electric Guard Dog's confidential information for his own benefit and has attempted to continue working in the security business near the plaintiff's area in and around Houston.

Electric Guard Dog seeks trial by jury, an order prohibiting Rodriguez from misappropriating the plaintiff's proprietary information and returning the same, all damages, attorney fees and court costs, plus all other just and proper relief. It is represented by attorneys Michael J. Muskat of Muskat, Mahony, Devine & Moses LLP in Houston, and by Julian H. Wright Jr. of Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson PA in Charlotte, North Carolina.
