HOUSTON – An Austin County man employed as a peace officer for a school district alleges he was not paid proper wages for overtime work.
Robert Campbell, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated filed a complaint on Dec. 16 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Royal Independent School District alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during his employment with defendant, he regularly worked in excess of 40 hours per week without being paid proper overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Royal Independent School District responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to compensate him for worked performed in excess of 40 hours per week at a rate not less than one-and-one-half times his regular rate and failed to maintain accurate time and pay records.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks recover unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, attorneys’ fees and costs, an order allowing this action to proceed as a collective action and such other just and proper relief.
