HOUSTON — A Sugar Land woman is suing Veterans Affairs officials, alleging race- and gender-based discrimination.

Latonya Jordan filed a complaint Dec. 21 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs officials Robert A. McDonald, Francisco Vasquez and Rickey Morlen, alleging they violated the Equal Pay Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, as a result of the defendants' discriminatory acts, Jordan has suffered compensatory, economic and punitive damages. The plaintiff alleges the defendants subjected her to continued and intentional race- and gender-based wage discrimination, unequal terms and conditions of employment, retaliation, harassment and a hostile work environment.

Jordan seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of $300,000, plus punitive and liquidated damages, an additional $500,000 for other relief as is appropriate, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Jacquelyn J. Watson of Stafford.
