HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a Houston Family Dollar store, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff suffering head injuries.

Nikhaundra Mayes filed a complaint Dec. 26 in Harris County District Court against Family Dollar Stores of Texas LLC, alleging failure to provide a safe shopping area to its patrons.

According to the complaint, on April 27, 2015, Mayes was shopping at the Family Dollar store on Bellfort Boulevard in Houston, when a Family Dollar employee threw a box over an aisle, striking Mayes in the head.

As a result, the suit says, Mayes suffered injuries resulting in pain, physical impairment and disfigurement, lost wages and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges Family Dollar Stores of Texas negligently created the dangerous condition and failed to correct it.

Mayes seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of not less than $75,000, plus penalties and interest, attorney fees, court costs and expenses and all other relief. She is represented by attorneys John Arthur Daspit and Robert Morse of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
