MARSHALL — A Louisiana man is suing Arkansas tractor trailer operators, alleging their negligence resulted in injuries to the plaintiff.

Joseph Hawkins filed a complaint Jan. 4 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against PRT Inc. of Nashville, Arkansas, and Allen Robert Cloud of Waldo, Arkansas, alleging PRT negligently hired a careless driver.

According to the complaint, on July 23, 2015, Hawkins was lawfully driving a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup northbound on U.S. Highway 79 in Panola County when Cloud, operating a 2013 Freightliner tractor trailer owned by PRT, negligently caused a collision with the plaintiff's vehicle.

As a result, the suit says, Hawkins sustained serious injuries to his left hand and chest. The plaintiff alleges Cloud failed to keep the tractor trailer within a single lane of travel, failed to to keep careful lookout and failed to operate his tractor trailer in accordance with the laws.

Hawkins seeks trial by jury, actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other relief. He is represented by attorney Alan J. Robertson of Sloan, Hatcher, Perry, Runge, Robertson & Smith in Longview.
