HOUSTON — A Fort Bend County man has filed a class action lawsuit against travel businesses, alleging violation of workers compensation acts in failing to pay overtime.

Imthiyas Ahamed, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint Jan. 5 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Riya Travel & Tours Inc., BookOtrip LLC, Trip Brands LLC, Samuel Benson and Ani Benson, alleging they violated the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, starting in September 2015, Ahamed typically worked between 45 to 47 hours a week as a travel agent at the defendants' business in Sugar Land without receiving overtime compensation for hours worked more than 40 per week and he was subjected to unauthorized wage deductions.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to pay proper premium hourly rates for the overtime hours he worked as required by FLSA and failed to maintain accurate time records.

Ahamed seeks trial by jury, compensatory and liquidated damages, attorney fees and court costs, post-judgment interest and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Salar Ali Ahmed of Ali S. Ahmed PC in Houston.
