GALVESTON — A Dallas County man is suing a dog owner, alleging negligence in failing to prevent injuries.

Merritt B. Teddlie filed a complaint Jan. 9 in Galveston County District Court against Jonathan D. Frank, alleging he breached his legal duty to protect the plaintiff and others from his dog.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 24, 2016, as a direct and proximate result of Frank's negligence, Teddlie was attacked and bitten by the defendant's dog while walking on a Galveston beach. The suit says Teddlie suffered serious and permanent physical injuries, resulting in medical expenses, physical pain and mental anguish, physical impairment and disfigurement.

The plaintiff alleges Frank failed to take any action to protect innocent people from his dog’s attacks.

Teddlie seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000, penalties, court costs, expenses, pre-judgment interest, attorney fees and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys John Arthur Daspit and Brent W. Randel of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
