BEAUMONT — A Silsbee customer is suing a Beaumont steakhouse, alleging its negligence caused the plaintiff to be injured by a waiter.
William James filed a complaint Jan. 19 in Jefferson County District Court against Landry's Restaurant Inc., doing business as Saltgrass Steak House-Beaumont, alleging it breached its duty to provide necessary and proper procedures in training its employees.
According to the complaint, on April 2, 2016, James was sitting at a table at Saltgrass Steak House-Beaumont when a server who was in a hurry negligently dropped a heavily loaded food tray on his head. ]
As a result, the suit says, James suffered a concussion, endured anxiety, pain and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to maintain business in a safe and hazard-free manner and failed to uphold its duty to provide proper training to all employees.
James seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, post- and pre-judgment interest, costs of court and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Brett S. Thomas of Beaumont.
