HOUSTON — A California man is suing his former employer, alleging unlawful employment practices.

Eric Pierre filed a complaint Jan. 27 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, alleging violation of the Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, as a result of Chicago Bridge's actions, Pierre, a black man, has suffered damages, which include economic losses, emotional pain and suffering, inconvenience, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff alleges Chicago Bridge & Iron subjected him to an adverse employment action by harassing, disciplining and, ultimately, terminating his employment because of Pierre's opposition to unlawful discrimination during his time as a senior auditor for a CBI project at The Woodlands, Texas.

Pierre seeks trial by jury, compensatory and exemplary damages, reinstatement to his prior job and position, attorney fees and courts costs and all other appropriate relief. He is represented by attorneys Stephen L. Townsend and J. Thad Heartfield of The Heartfield Law Firm in Beaumont.
