Law money 13

HOUSTON — A worker is suing a Houston business and truck operator, alleging their negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Jose Perez Sanchez filed a complaint Jan. 31 in Harris County District Court against R. Burges Transport Inc. and D&R Metal Finishing Inc., alleging they failed to provide a safe working environment.

According to the complaint, on March 9, 2016, Sanchez was working for D&R Metal when he was instructed to help unload beams from the trailer of R. Burges. As the driver of the trailer began to unstrap the beams, the suit says, a beam fell and struck Sanchez, causing him to sustain injuries to his left knee and right arm.

Sanchez says he suffered loss of earning capacity, physical and mental pain and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate assistance and failed to properly instruct and supervise their employees.

Sanchez seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Carlos Hughes Jr. of The Hughes Law Firm in Houston.
