The plaintiff RICPI is based in Frisco.

It asserts ownership of United States Patent Number 7,333,806, which is entitled “System and Method for Enabling Two-Way Radio Communications over a Computer Network.”

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued the ‘806 patent on Feb. 19, 2008.

Per recent court documents, the ‘806 patent contains three independent claims and 16 dependent claims. The subject patent reportedly claims a system for two-way radio communication.

The plaintiff Wireless Switch IP is based in Plano.

It has pursued legal action in response to alleged infringement of U.S. Patent Numbers 7,356,351 and 7,647,070, both of which are entitled “Method and Apparatus for Disabling the RF Functionality of a Multi-Function Wireless Communication Device While Maintaining Local Functionality.”

Per recent court documents, a person of ordinary skill in the art reading both patents would understand that each patent’s disclosure and claims are rooted in complex computer-implemented operations that require complex computer hardware and software technologies that can be used to overcome the problem of how to allow a user of a device to access the various types of local functionality even while the communication functionality of that device is disabled.

Wireless Switch IP seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
