MARSHALL — A black Gilmer woman is suing her former employer, alleging discrimination, intentional infliction of emotional distress and wrongful termination.
Shovett Finch filed a complaint Feb. 14 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against CSI Coil Specialist Inc., alleging violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
According to the complaint, on April 27, 2016, Finch she gave CSI Coil a copy of her full duty release after she gave birth to her child March 16, 2016, but she has been refused employment.
As a result of her discharge, the suit says, Finch has suffered lost wages, benefits, medical and life insurances and retirement benefits as well as emotional pain and inconvenience. The plaintiff alleges CSI Coil Specialist failed to accommodate her pregnancy-related work restrictions, terminated her employment and failed to restore her position because of her pregnancy.
Finch seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, attorney fees, court costs and disbursements and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney William S. Hommel Jr. of Hommel Law Firm in Tyler.
