HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing Isuzu, alleging design and manufacturing defects.

Steven Gomez filed a complaint Feb. 16 in Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Isuzu Motors Ltd., Isuzu Motors Acceptance Corp. and American Isuzu Motors Inc., alleging they failed to comply with the applicable safety standards issued by the federal government.

According to the complaint, on March 20, 2015, Gomez was traveling in a 2002 Rodeo Isuzu in Harris County when he collided with a tree. Due to the failure of the vehicle's airbag protection safety system, the suit says, Gomez sustained serious and permanently disabling injuries and damages.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants defectively designed and manufactured the vehicle and improperly installed the airbag deployment system.

Gomez seeks trial by jury, actual and special damages, interest, attorney fees, court costs and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorneys David E. Harris and Juan J. Maldonado of Sico Hoelscher Harris & Braugh LLP in Corpus Christi.
