Life Time Fitness sued over customer's steam room injuries

HOUSTON — A Harris County resident is suing Life Time Fitness Inc. and LTF Real Estate Co. Inc. over injuries she sustained as a result of a broken steam room tile.

Isdagny Gefers filed a complaint on Feb. 24, in the Harris County District Court against the defendants, alleging that they negligently allowed the continued existence of an unreasonably unsafe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that while at the gym, she sustained serious bodily injuries on Feb. 26, 2016, when her right foot was cut and she feel in the steam room. She has suffered pain and disability, mental anguish, loss earnings and medical expenses, the complaint said. The plaintiff holds Life Time Fitness Inc. and LTF Real Estate Co. Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to repair or replace a broken tile with a sharp edge.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million, costs of court, interest and all other general and special relief. She is represented by attorney Brian and Nataliya Tipton of Attorney Brian White & Associates P.C. in Houston.
