Jefferson County resident accuses Rene Salinas Sr. of negligence.

BEAUMONT — A motorist is suing Rene Salinas Sr., another motorist, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

William Johnson filed a complaint on Feb. 27, in the Jefferson County District Court against Rene Salinas Sr. alleging that the other motorist failed to maintain proper control of his vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in Feb. 19, 2017, he sustained injuries to his back, neck and body when defendant negligently collided with his vehicle. He has suffered physical and mental pain, medical expenses and lost wages. The plaintiff holds Rene Salinas Sr. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to yield right of way, failed to maintain careful lookout and failed to timely apply breaks and stop the vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of over $200,000 but not more than $1 million such other and further relief to which he may be entitled. He is represented by Cody Rees of Rees Law Firm in Beaumont, Texas.
