HOUSTON — An employee is suing Home Depot, alleging the defendant's negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.
Efrem Jones filed a complaint March 7 in Harris County District Court against Home Depot USA Inc., alleging failure to comply with the applicable safety regulations and practices.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 9, 2016, Jones was employed by Home Depot to unload trucks containing merchandise to be sold at the defendant's store in Houston. While attempting to perform his job without assistance, the suit says, Jones sustained injuries to his spine and shoulder.
The lawsuit states Jones has experienced pain and suffering, medical expenses and loss of earning capacity. The plaintiff alleges Home Depot failed to provide adequate safety equipment and failed to properly train and supervise its employees.
Jones seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorneys Jason Itkin, Noah M. Wexler and Ben Bireley of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
