Slip01

HOUSTON — A shopper is suing Kroger Texas LP, a grocery store operator, alleging the company took insufficient measures to prevent customer injuries.

Jennifer Matthews filed a complaint on March 8 in the Galveston County District Court against Kroger Texas LP, alleging that the grocery store operator failed to provide a safe premises.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was shopping at a Kroger grocery store on June 11, 2015, when she slipped and fell on a slick substance on the floor. She sustained significant injuries to her left knee, the complaint said. The plaintiff holds Kroger Texas LP responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to eliminate the dangerous condition and failed to warn her of the existence of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000, but not more than $1 million, and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Davis Haines and Megan C. Hartman of Haines Law P.C. in Humble.
