GALVESTON — A Galveston County family-owned business is suing AT&T, alleging fraudulent misrepresentation.
Farmer's Copper Ltd. filed a complaint March 8 in Galveston County District Court against AT&T Corp. alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
According to the complaint, in 2008, AT&T promised to provide installation and service of a T-3 circuit to provide internet service to Farmer's Copper plaintiff and it would automatically disconnect the T-1 circuits. In 2016, the suit says, Farmer's Copper realized AT&T did not disconnect the two T-1 lines and, instead, the defendant had been improperly charging and collecting for those two lines.
The plaintiff alleges AT&T failed to disconnect the T-1 circuits as promised and has refused to fully refund Farmer's Copper for the billings, totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Farmer's Copper seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million and any other equitable relief. It is represented by attorneys Jack C. Brock, Andres “Andy” Soto and Matthew “Gus” Knebel of Mills Shirley LLP in Galveston.
