Patient blames medical care providers for suffering

Medical malpractice 09

HOUSTON — A patient is suing Houston medical care providers, alleging their negligence caused her injuries.

Rosa Aldana filed a complaint March 13 in Harris County District Court against First Street Hospital LP and First Surgical Texas Partners LLC, alleging they failed to take precautions to prevent injuries to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 2, 2015, Aldana had anterior release surgery in her back at First Street Hospital. After that, the suit says, Aldana continued to experience pain and was given an X-ray. The X-ray determined that a sponge had been left inside her retroperitoneum.

As a result, the lawsuit states, Aldana sustained severe injuries to her body and other medical problems. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly monitor and asses her condition.

Aldana seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million and all other relief. She is represented by attorney Kelly M. Woods of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz in Houston.
