GALVESTON – A Brazoria County couple is suing a Dickinson child
care facility where the woman works after she allegedly sustained injuries
while assisting a teenager with cerebral palsy.
Jessica and Samuel Harkreader’s lawsuit, filed against
Lifetime Academy of Learning LLC on Apr. 5 in the Galveston County 10th
District Court, claims the Aug. 14, 2015 incident occurred when Jessica
Harkreader helped the adolescent use the restroom only for the student to fall
She then fell “forcefully onto the floor of the bathroom”
and suffered injuries to her shoulders, arms, spinal disc, and other parts of
her body, recent court documents state.
The suit explains that the defendant, doing business as A
Lifetime of Learning Child Care Center, declined her request for additional
assistance prior to performing the task.
Samuel Harkreader says that his wife’s ordeal caused him to
suffer a loss of consortium.
