Worker blames tree removal employer for injuries

GALVESTON — A Galveston County man is suing his employer, alleging his negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff. 

Jeffrey Holcomb filed a complaint March 23 in Galveston County District Court against Gregory L. Cotton alleging the employer failed to properly maintain a safe working environment.

According to the complaint, on April 15, 2015, Holcomb, in the course and scope of his employment Cotton, sustained serious and permanent injuries when he fell while cutting extremely high tree limbs. The suit says he has suffered mental anguish, physical pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages. 

The plaintiff alleges Cotton failed to provide adequate assistance, safe and proper equipment and/or proper tools for the job.

Holcomb seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other just relief. He is represented by attorney Joshua Estes of The Estes Law Firm PC in Richmond.
