GALVESTON — A Calhoun County woman is suing a construction company, alleging violation of workers compensation acts and sex discrimination.

Lisabeth Spenneberg filed a complaint March 24 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against TGE Industrial Services LLC, alleging violation of the Equal Pay Act.

According to the complaint, as a result of TGE's unlawful practices, Spenneberg, who had worked 16 years for TGE,  has suffered monetary damages for receiving less pay as a pipefitter than her male counterparts who were performing substantially similar work as hers. The plaintiff alleges TGE Industrial Services retaliated against her by terminating her employment March 23, for engaging in a protected activity when she complained about the pay differential.

Spenneberg seeks trial jury, unpaid wages, liquidated damages, attorney fees, costs of court, interest and all other relief. She is represented by attorneys Beatriz Sosa-Morris and John Neuman of Sosa-Morris Neuman in Houston.
