HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing a cleaning company and employer, alleging their negligence caused him to suffer injuries.

Michael Muniz filed a complaint April 4 in Harris County District Court against Veolia Es Industrial Services Inc. and Chevron Phillips Chemical LP, alleging failure to maintain a safe work environment.

According to the complaint, on April 11, 2015, Muniz was supervising four other workers inside a reactor within the refinery at Chevron's facility in Baytown when a wash down occurred, involving water and other fluids. Shortly after, the suit says, Muniz began to experience extreme pain and discomfort in his left eye.

As a result, the lawsuit states Muniz has suffered, physical impairment, medical expenses and lost wages. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide a warning that a wash down was about to be conducted by Veolia.

Muniz seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million and all other just and equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Farrah Martinez of Farrah Martinez PLLC in Houston.
