La Marque consumer accuses debt collector of illegal business practices

GALVESTON — A La Marque women is suing a debt collector, alleging unconscionable business practices.

Kristen Frost filed a complaint April 5 in Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Medicredit Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, in November 2016, as a result of the defendant's conduct, Frost suffered and continues to suffer actual damages, humiliation, anger, anxiety and embarrassment. The plaintiff alleges Medicredit has continuously called Frost's place of employment, where she is not allowed to accept personal calls, attempting to collect a debt.

Frost seeks trial by jury, actual damages, statutory damages of $1,000, litigation costs, attorney fees and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Jenny DeFrancisco of Lemberg Law LLC in Wilton, Connecticut.
