HOUSTON — A guest is suing a Comfort Suites, alleging negligence caused her injuries in the shower.

Melinda Hatherly of New Braunfels filed a complaint April 6 in Harris County District Court against Laxminarayan Inc. alleging the hotel operator failed to make a shower room reasonably safe.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 23, 2016, Hatherly was a guest at the defendant's Comfort Suites hotel in Baytown when she was injured while taking a shower when a safety handle broke off. The suit says she sustained injuries that resulted in pain and suffering, medical expenses and disability.

The plaintiff alleges Laxminarayan failed to properly secure and fasten the shower safety handle or to provide a mat to prevent slipping.

Hatherly seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, plus all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Joshua R. Leske of Husain Law + Associates PC in Houston.
