Medical malpractice 06

HOUSTON — A Harris County couple is suing health care providers, alleging their negligence caused injuries to the wife.

Jennifer B. Bartok and Richard E. Bartok filed a complaint April 7 in Harris County District Court against Dr. Torri-Ja'net T. Pierce, Elite Women's Care Center PA, Methodist Health Centers, Houston Methodist West Hospital, et al, alleging they failed to properly control Jennifer Bartok's blood pressure.

According to the complaint, Jennifer Bartok suffered a post-partum angiopathy that almost caused her death. The suit says she has also suffered and continues to suffer nervousness, dizziness and inability to walk.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to recognize symptoms of post-partum hypertension and failed to intervene to prevent stroke.

The Bartoks seek trial by jury, damages within the jurisdictional limits of the court, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and costs of court, plus all other relief. They are represented by attorneys Charles R. Houssiere III and Randall A. Kauffman of Houssiere Durant Houssiere LLP in Houston.
