Guest alleges church's negligence led to injuries

Slip01

HOUSTON — A Spring woman is suing a local church, alleging its negligence caused her injuries.

Dena Holley filed a complaint April 7 in Harris County Circuit Court against The Church at Creek's End Inc. alleging failure to use reasonable and ordinary care in the inspection, maintenance and repair of the location where the incident happened.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 7, 2016, Holley visited a garage sale on the defendant's premises in Spring. The suit says while exiting the church, Holley tripped as the church's steps were blocked with trash bags. As a result, Holley says she suffered physical injuries and experienced medical treatment.

The plaintiff alleges the church failed to warn invitees of the dangerous condition, failed to make the condition reasonably safe and failed to use warning signs around the dangerous condition.

Holley seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between  $200,000 and $1 million, with pre- and post-judgment interest, and all equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Joshua P. Davis and Katherine Ray of Davis Law Group in Houston.
