HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a Houston convenience store operator, alleging its negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Stephanie Newsome-Lewis filed a complaint April 28 in Harris County District Court against Panjwani Energy LLC, Star Stop 60 and Frito-Lay Inc., alleging they failed to provide a safe environment.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 16, 2016, Newsome-Lewis was at the Star Shop store on Southmore Boulevard in Houston to buy a soda when a hand truck operated by a Frito-Lay employee rolled over and tripped the plaintiff.

The suit says Newsome-Lewis landed on her neck and shoulder, leading to serious injuries. The plaintiff alleges the defendants employee breached his duty to exercise ordinary care in the operation of the hand truck and shelf-stacking activities.

Newsome-Lewis seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, plus all other legal and equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Jonathan S. Harris of Schechter McElwee Shaffer & Harris LLP in Houston.
