GALVESTON — A Jones Act seaman is suing vessel operators, alleging their negligence led to injuries.

Joseph Moore filed a complaint April 28 in Galveston County District Court against Alpine Ocean Seismic Survey Inc. and Gardline Surveys, Inc., alleging they failed to maintain a safe work environment.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 29, 2016, Moore was seriously injured in the engine room of the defendants' R/V Shearwater that resulted in a sharp pain in the plaintiff's back when he tried to carry a large and heavy container of oil. The suit says Moore has suffered physical pain, mental anguish and other medical problems.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly train and supervise employees and failed to provide appropriate medical attention.

Moore seeks trial by jury, actual and consequential damages, plus interest, costs of court and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys Kurt B. Arnold, J. Kyle Findley, Kala F. Sellers and Adam Lewis of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
