Patient alleges medical care providers' negligence caused injuries

HOUSTON — A Kansas patient is suing medical care providers, alleging their negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff. 

Margie Dougherty filed a complaint April 27 in Harris County District Court against Dr. Ravi Moparty, Ravi Moparty MD PLLC and Spring Gastroenterology,alleging they breached their duties to properly diagnose and treat the plaintiff's medical condition.

According to the complaint, Dougherty has suffered and continues to suffer physical and mental pain, loss or reduction in earning capacity and incurred medical expenses because of the defendants' medical negligence the Woodlands Specialty Hospital in February 2015. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligently conducted a surgical procedure that perforated her common bile duct and colon and then failed to adequately monitor her condition following the procedure.

Dougherty seeks trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, costs of court, plus all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Craig Lewis and Heather E. Hall of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
