HOUSTON — A Louisiana man is suing a global offshore contract driller, alleging negligence in causing injuries to the plaintiff.

Grayling Vital filed a complaint on May 4, in the Harris County Circuit Court against Rowan Companies, Inc. alleging that the defendant failed to maintain premises in safe condition to avoid causing injuries to others.

According to the complaint, on May 4, 2016, while working as a gallery hand on Rowan's vessel off shore, Vital tripped on a broken tile, causing him to fail and sustain severe and disabling body injuries.

The plaintiff alleges Rowan failed to maintain the vessel and its appurtenances in a safe and reasonable state of repair and failed to take reasonable precautions for workers safety.

Vital seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $750,000 for damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs, attorney fees and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Marcus R. Spagnoletti and Mary A. Holmesly of Spagnoletti & Co. in Houston.
