HOUSTON — Two Harris County tenants are suing an apartment owner and contractors, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiffs.
Royshyra Ford and Wilton Madison III filed a complaint May 5 in Harris County District Court against Mid America Apartment Communities Inc., Westchase Construction Ltd. and Martin Fein Interest Ltd., alleging they totally disregarded the plaintiffs' rights, safety and welfare.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 16, 2016, Ford and Madison were severely injured when they fell three stories when a railing constructed, maintained and repaired by the defendants gave way at their Humble apartment complex. The suit says the plaintiffs suffered broken ribs, lacerated spleen, shattered arms, feet and vertebrae.
The plaintiffs allege the defendants improperly constructed and maintained the building.
Ford and Madison seek trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other general and special relief. They are represented by attorney Geoffrey S. Binney of Gauntt, Koen, Binney, Woodall & Kidd LLP in The Woodlands.
