Beneficiaries of deceased patient accuse Memorial City Health and Rehabilitation Center of negligence

HOUSTON — Beneficiaries of a deceased patient are suing SSC Harris Village LLC d/b/a Memorial City Health and Rehabilitation Center, a nursing home facility, for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries and death.

Jacqueline Miekka, individually and as special representative of Carl Henry Miekka, deceased, Shannon Rose Miekka and Cara Rose Miekka filed a complaint on May 8 in the Harris County District Court against the defendant, alleging that the nursing home facility negligently caused Carl Henry Miekka to sustain severe injuries.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that while a resident at defendant's facility, Carl Henry Miekka suffered severe injuries, physical pain and emotional distress. He never recovered from the injuries and died on June 25, 2015. 

The plaintiffs holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to implement measures to prevent Carl Henry Miekka from sustaining injuries.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages in an amount within the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus interest and other just and proper relief.
