HOUSTON — A woman is suing a supermarket for negligence after she slipped and fell on rice pudding while shopping.
Dora Cardenas filed a complaint on April 21 in the Harris County Circuit Court against El Ahorro Supermarket No. 15 LLC, alleging that the supermarket failed to take measures to ensure that the premises did not present any danger.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was shopping at the defendant's store on April 23, 2015 when she slipped and fell on rice pudding that had been spilled on the floor. As a result, Cardenas claims that she suffered debilitating and painful injuries, loss of earning capacity and medical expenses.
The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to inspect the premises, ensure safe conditions and adequately warn people of the dangerous condition of the floor.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment for damages incurred, losses incurred and any other further relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Corey Gomel and Dominique Batholet of Gomel and Associates PC in Houston.
