Aspiring bondsman accuses AIA Holdings of breach of contract

Contract 10

HOUSTON — A new applicant for a bond license is suing a bail bond surety, citing alleged breach of contract and tortious interference.

Luis Rodriguez filed a complaint on April 21 in the Harris County Circuit Court against the Glenn Strickland and AIA Holdings Inc., alleging that the defendants failed to perform under the terms of the contract. AIA Holdings is a foreign corporation that uses Dallas-based National Corporate Research as an agent, according to the court filing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 13, 2017 he filed for the proper paperwork and performed all requirements to become a bondsman under the defendant, but his paperwork allegedly was later declined after he had already been approved. The plaintiff claims that he had a falling out with the defendant on two separate occasions and alleges that was the only reason why he was prevented from becoming a bondsman. As a result, Rodriguez claims he lost an untold amount of money and experienced damages to his reputation.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to comply under the terms of the contract by rescinding the contract.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, court costs and  other and further relief to which plaintiff may be entitled. He is represented by Quyen M. Phan of Law Office of Quyen M. Pham, PLLC in Houston.
