HOUSTON — A Brazoria County woman is suing a sporting goods and outdoor equipment company, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.
Jodell Anderson filed a complaint April 24 in Harris County Circuit Court against Academy LTD., doing business as Academy Sports and Outdoors, and Far Realty, LLC, alleging failure to warn customers and to make safe the unreasonably dangerous condition.
According to the complaint, on June 26, 2016, while walking inside the Academy Sports property in Webster, Anderson slipped and fell due to liquid on the floor of a consumer aisle. The suit says Anderson was severely injured and required extensive medical treatment that caused her loss of earnings and medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly supervise its employees in their maintenance of the premises, failed to timely and properly eliminate the liquid that caused the incident and failed to inspect the area in a proper and timely manner.
Anderson seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million, plus costs of court, pre- and post-judgment interest, actual and compensatory damages, and all other further just relief. She is represented by attorneys Michael S. Tilton and John A. Caston of Tilton & Tilton LLP in Houston.
