GALVESTON – A Pearland consumer alleges that a Florida collection agency keeps calling to collect a debt that doesn't belong to her.

Arnae Fulton-Draughon filed a complaint on May 9 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Hunter Warfield Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in February, she began receiving calls from defendant attempting to collect an alleged debt that belongs to another person. As a result of defendant's actions, plaintiff alleges she has been harassed, oppressed and abused.

The plaintiff holds Hunter Warfield Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly continued to place collection calls even after plaintiff requested to stop calling her and threatened plaintiff that defendant was going to come to her place of employment with a warrant for her arrest.

The plaintiff seeks statutory damages of $1,000, attorneys’ fees, costs and disbursements and any other just and proper relief. She is represented by Michael S. Agruss of Agruss Law Firm LLC in Chicago, Illinois.
