BEAUMONT — A Beaumont woman is suing an oil company and driver, alleging their negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.
Casandra Fontenot filed a complaint April 20 in Jefferson County District Court against Midtex Oil LP and Christopher W. Blackwell, alleging Midtex negligently entrusted one of its vehicles to a careless and reckless employee.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 10, 2015, Fontenot sustained severe and disabling injuries on state Highway 69 in Nederland when her car was struck by a vehicle driven by Blackwell and owned by Midtex.
Fontenot said she suffered medical-related expenses, pain, mental anguish and loss of earning capacity. She alleges Blackwell failed to keep a careful lookout and failed to timely apply the brakes to stop his vehicle.
Fontenot seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of the court's minimum jurisdictional limits, legal interest, costs of court and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Paul F. Ferguson Jr. of The Ferguson Law Firm in Beaumont.
