Customer blames Port Neches park operator for injuries

BEAUMONT — A Port Arthur woman is suing Port Neches, alleging the city's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff. 

Shayla Myers filed a complaint May 4 in Jefferson County District Court against the city of Port Neches alleging the operator of a city park failed to provide a safe premises for its invitees.

According to the complaint, on July 3, 2015, Myers was visiting Tugboat Island, a public park in Port Neches. While exiting the park, the suit says, Myers' foot hit an uneven plank and she fell on her right knee. 

Myers says she sustained severe and disabling injuries that caused physical pain, mental anguish, lost wages and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges Port Neches failed to provide a reasonably safe walking area.

Myers seeks trial by jury, punitive and exemplary damages, plus legal interest, costs of court and all other relief. She is represented by attorney Byron C. Alfred of VB Attorneys in Houston.
